Funny, if Affiliate Marketing had a generic signature line. It should happily read, “Try this at Home”. It probably is the only “expert thing” that anybody can try at home a thousand times without getting killed and eventually become an expert.
Yes Anybody. How did i start trying? Let me put down the sequential events. Dreamt of being a musician at 13. Dreamt of being a musician at 13. But destiny had me graduating as an advertising film maker and a communication designer from NID at 24 Instead. Undying perseverance, self learning, tutoring and practicing lessons from google searches, my music passion kick-started too within 2 years. I made it though as a professional music director, composing and arranging for TV commercials, jingles, theme songs, scores etc. Was it all? Yes i became a Music Director. Everybody including my dad warned me saying, jumping jacks always postpone true success. Advice followed galore from all quarters, “Krsna, stay stuck to one thing”. Did i pay a heed? Nope! All fell to my deaf ears. I went on to manage and run an Audio and Video Media house for 6 years putting all my skills and experience at work. I admit it was difficult to survive passion for music and churn out mundane advertising stuff at the same time on a day to day basis.
And then one day i got affiliated. The beautiful accident actually profited me a mere $200 the first month. The beautiful accident in 2006 actually surprised me with a $200 profit the first very month. Rest is history. I finally stayed stuck. To add to the earning spree, my video, graphic, music, writing skills all seemed to merge into one domain called “Affiliate Marketing”. I immediately realized I had an upper edge because of my self reliance to all aspects of designing, marketing, promoting, positioning by then. Only the format was different this time and everything Online. Affiliate Marketing came naturally to me with my prior offline advertising experience. I remember, even AffiliateHow logo I designed took me 15 minutes to make, within moments of purchase of the domain name. Whereas many contemporaries would probably grapple with the basic graphic design aspects to begin with. This is just an offhand example. Not just PPC advertising, SEO techniques or article marketing, I till date, rely a great deal on Viral communication and Custom designed Creatives for the merchants that i endorse.
And today I proudly self designated myself an infopreneur since I’m my own boss now. From a countable few affiliate programs selling and experimenting all kinds of stuff back then in 2006 to developing my own products, I got richer. I’m so excited about my current Internet business plan, a full fledged e-commerce music portal to sell all forms of original stock music and albums from around the world, specially my favorites, fusion and symphonic orchestrations. And i get to do all this from my small home-front turned office. My present team? San, handling the programming aspects and Chitra, with the accounts. Allowing me to solely focus on creatives and marketing.
Internet, my playground, Affiliate Programs, my play-toy, $$$, my rewards. How greatly simplified. I love my new but late-found profession considering some of the successful predecessors have grown white mustaches by now. But finally what counts is how to lose track of zeroes. I often do and and so can you. What started as a need to document my own personal learning and thumb-rules finally led to the establishment of AffiliateHow as it is today.
